Welcome to my journalism portfolio,
I'm glad you're here.
Megan is a curious journalist passionate about pursuing truth and justice through investigative journalism as well as capturing community life and finding joy in the ordinary.
An award-winning investigative journalist, Megan most recently worked at The Citizen -- an upstate New York newspaper in Auburn, NY. The Citizen prints six days a week and has a constant online presence. There since December 2017, Megan uncovered an ongoing workplace sexual harassment case that local authorities were attempting to sweep under the rug. Her writing on the topic received first-place recognition from The Syracuse Press Club and second place recognition from the NY Associated Press association honors.
For about a year, Megan covered more than 25 municipalities on a local government and community beat before transitioning to the paper's crime, court and law enforcement beat. While on the crime beat, she also wrote heath-focused feature stories weekly and continued to cover local government and community for about 10 municipalities.

Two-time New York State Associated Press
Investigative Journalism Award Winner
Investigative journalism awards:
First in city, second in state
In April, Megan received a first place award from the Syracuse Press Club for her investigative journalism work in 2018.
The Syracuse Press Club received entries from more than three Central New York counties. Entries were judged by out-of-state judges. The award recognizes Megan's investigative series - including one enterprise story and more than 15 additional stories - which details mayoral corruption and a Department of Public Works Superintendent's physical and sexual harassment of his then 21-year-old female employee. For the same series, Megan also received the second-place investigative journalism award from the New York Associated Press Association honors in June. The enterprise story, "'I just want justice': Weedsport employee discloses workplace harassment claim" can be read here. |
